Afriwise & Legaltech Hub Announce Co-Hosted Africa Legal Technology Events

Johannesburg/New York, May 29, 2026

  • Online showcases for the latest tech in July and August.

  • In-person conference slated for January 2027 in Johannesburg.

To accelerate the development of a legal technology ecosystem across Africa, legal intelligence platform Afriwise and legal technology insights and analysis company Legaltech Hub have announced an events partnership.

The inaugural Afriwise Legal Tech Africa Conference (LTAC) 2027, in partnership with LTH will be held on Thursday, January 28th. In a single, electric day in Johannesburg, we're convening the people shaping how law is practiced across the continent: the firms scaling across borders, the in-house teams running global mandates, and the technology leaders building what's next.

Africa’s legal ecosystem will gather to learn about the future of legal technology, how AI is shaping the practice and business of law, the growing importance of trusted legal data and intelligence infrastructure, to preview the latest solutions and to network with peers.

In the buildup to the January event, Afriwise and LTH will be presenting two online showcases of legal tech solutions. On July 15th and August 12th, twelve vendors will demo their solutions to a virtual audience. These virtual events are free to attend.

“Africa remains a significantly underserved market for legal tech events and awareness”, according to LTH Co-founder and CEO Nikki Shaver. “That is out of sync with the considerable appetite for embracing innovation through technology we've seen in the region, and we are excited to launch these events with our partners at Afriwise”.

Afriwise’s Founder and CEO, Steven De Backer, adds: “Africa is ready to enter a fundamentally different era for the legal profession. For too long, global legal technology discussions have focused primarily on North America and Europe, while some of the world’s fastest-moving, most fragmented and most legally dynamic markets received far less attention. Yet these are precisely the environments where better legal intelligence, stronger collaboration and trusted technology can have a huge impact. AI will fundamentally reshape how the legal ecosystem works across the continent, from law firms and in-house teams to compliance professionals, regulators and governments. This partnership is about helping move those conversations forward and ensuring Africa is fully part of the global transformation taking place across the legal profession.”

Further details about the Johannesburg event, including agenda, speaker announcements, sponsorship opportunities and registration options will be available soon.
