We hereby inform the business community and other interested parties that the National Migration Service (SENAMI) has announced, with immediate effect, the suspension of the requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals to submit prior notice of entry before travelling to the country.

Previously, tourists from countries that benefit from visa exemption were required to complete an online registration form at least 48 hours before arrival.

This measure, introduced by the Decree No. 10/2023, of 31 March, which exempts citizens of certain countries from presenting entry visas, is part of an initiative to improve border control and facilitate the monitoring of international entries.

However, this measure faced significant operational challenges, including technical constraints in the electronic registration platform, E-visa, which have prevented the normal functioning of the system and the submission of data by users, which justified the suspension of the requirement, according to SENAMI.

The suspension will remain in effect until the technical conditions for reactivating the registration requirement are met, and its eventual reactivation will be officially announced.
